Who We Are

Humanities is a public charter school located in the Marble Hill neighbourhood in the Bronx. UCHS schools provide all students, regardless of their previous academic history, the highest quality education in an atmosphere of respect, responsibility, and rigor. UCHS schools ensure that graduates have the skills and content knowledge necessary to succeed in postsecondary choices by engaging students, teachers, and administrators in learning experiences that allow risk-taking, embrace multiple attempts at learning, cultivate students’ imaginative and creative abilities, and celebrate achievement. Through an intensive study of English, history and art concepts, students learn how to generate research questions, develop the skills necessary to answer those questions, create products that demonstrate understanding, and defend their knowledge publicly.

Our Approach

At Humanities High School we aim to foster a dynamic learning environment grounded in the principles of Community Engagement, Accountability, Respect, and Empathy (CARE). We are dedicated to: Community Engagement: Building strong, collaborative relationships among students, staff, parents, and the local community through active participation and meaningful connections. Accountability & Good Citizenship: Promoting a culture of responsibility, integrity, and excellence, where students take ownership of their actions and contribute positively to society. Respect & Empathy: Creating a compassionate school culture where diversity is celebrated, and every individual is treated with dignity and understanding. Through our CARE initiative, we aim to create an inclusive environment that empowers every student to reach their full potential and become compassionate, responsible global citizens. “Engaging Every Student, Elevating Every Outcome.
