This October, members of the AMS III National Honor Society joined the fight against cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a great time to raise awareness about the disease and include the community in the fight for a cure.
Students at the school held a bake sale and sold wristbands as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. This involved the collaboration of not only the members of the NHS, but the AMS III community as a whole. The students were thrilled to be able to engage with the community, bring awareness to issues of concern, and see first-hand how their involvement can be impactful and ignite change.
When the NHS brought this idea to the attention of the school community, they received tremendous support from both staff and those outside school walls. As a whole, the community came together and donated and purchased baked goods, bought wristbands for themselves and others, and dressed in pink to show their support for this worthy cause.
The event served as a great example of how the NHS continues to embrace some of its core values — service and leadership. In all, the National Honor Society raised a total of $1,044. Kudos to all involved!
