PRINCIPAL
Lillian Lopez
Dear Humanities High School Students, Parents, and Community,
I am excited to welcome you to the 2025–2026 school year at Humanities High School! It continues to be an honor to serve as your principal and to work alongside such a dedicated, vibrant, and inspiring community of learners.
This year, we are building on our commitment to excellence through our CARE plan — Community Engagement, Accountability & Good Citizenship, Respect & Empathy. This initiative remains at the heart of our work, guiding how we learn, connect, and grow together.
Community Engagement – We will strengthen connections between students, staff, and families with events and activities that celebrate our diversity and shared purpose.
Accountability & Good Citizenship – We will continue to recognize students who model responsibility, leadership, and integrity.
Respect & Empathy – We will create spaces and opportunities where every student’s voice matters and compassion is a daily practice.
We also heard our students’ feedback, and this year we are introducing one consistent dismissal time: 3:07 PM, Monday through Friday. This adjustment will help with after-school planning, family routines, and overall consistency.
In addition, we will be fully complying with New York State’s new personal device restrictions. This means no personal devices of any kind will be allowed during the school day — including cell phones, iPads, smartwatches, and headphones. This step is designed to ensure our focus remains on learning, face-to-face connection, and academic growth.
Our uniform policy remains in place to promote unity and equity: students are expected to arrive each day in their uniform shirt and black pants. We will also continue our 1:1 Chromebook program, giving every student the tools to extend their learning beyond the classroom.
It’s going to be a year of learning, growth, and success — and our partnership with you is key to making that happen. Thank you for your trust, support, and dedication to Humanities High School.
Let’s make 2025–2026 a year to remember!
Warm regards,
Principal Lopez
