United Charter High Schools (UCHS) have once again been recognized among the “Best Charter High Schools in New York State” in new rankings by school database platform Niche, reaffirming the network’s standing as one of New York City’s top-performing public charter systems.
UCHS is one of the largest public charter high school networks in the state, serving students across the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. In the 2026 Niche rankings, five out of seven UCHS schools earned placement among the state’s top 25:
- United Charter High School for Advanced Math & Science II (AMS II) – #4 (Bronx)
- United Charter High School for Advanced Math & Science (AMS) – #12 (Bronx)
- United Charter High School for the Humanities (HUM) – #17 (Bronx)
- United Charter High School for the Humanities IV (HUM IV) – #21 (Queens)
- United Charter High School for Advanced Math & Science III (AMS III) – #25 (Brooklyn)
HUM II, located in the Bronx, and AMS IV, located in South Jamaica, Queens, also earned high recognition among New York’s top-performing charter schools.
The esteemed rankings highlight each school’s outstanding performance across a variety of factors evaluated by Niche, including academics, extracurricular opportunities, data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education, and feedback from current students, alumni, and parents.
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, families, and educators,” said Dr. Curtis Palmore, Chief Executive Officer of United Charter High Schools. “At each of our community-based schools, we take pride in nurturing critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers—young people who discover their purpose and are prepared to succeed in college, career, and life. Together, we’re demonstrating the power and potential of public education in New York City.”
Across its network, UCHS maintains a 95% graduation rate and 90% daily attendance. More than half of the network’s upperclassmen are enrolled in AP or dual-credit college courses.
