Academic Program

A group of students in light blue caps and gowns sit in rows at a graduation ceremony, some smiling and some looking ahead.

AMS II operates on a trimester schedule and offers a wide variety of courses that cater to a number of student and teacher invested interests. These courses include the “4 Cores,” of ELA, Math, Lab Science, and Social Studies, along with Physical Education, which occur all four years of the student’s high school career. There is a designation between Lower and Upper House, in which students, to be considered Upper House, must earn enough credits and pass enough Regents/Common Core exams to advance to the junior and senior grade levels. Students may take course work beyond their specific grade level if they are advanced or have completed the grade level specific coursework prior.

AMS II’s College Now Partner: Bronx Community College
College Now is CUNY’s largest collaborative program with the New York City secondary public school system. The program offers enrollment in college level courses to high school students where students can earn up to 3 college credits. The grades from these courses are reported on the student’s high school transcript
