Collaboration

HUM IV works to develop students collaboration skills through a variety of ways. Our Student Support Team works to develop our social emotional learning (SEL) model so that all students receive explicit social emotional support individualized to their needs. Students develop non-academic skills in and out of the classroom that will help them make positive choices, support their continued development and navigate postsecondary life through the following domains: Self-awareness, Self-management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills, and Responsible Decision Making.

HUM IV also offers the NYS Seal of Civics. HUM IV ensures its courses engage students in civic knowledge and civic participation to be awarded the seal. Students are awarded the seal of civics by earning points for the different opportunities and endeavors they engage in at HUM IV related to civic and community engagement. Such opportunities include: community service with our community based organizations, Senior Capstone Projects in grade 12, internships, and our history courses.

It is a culminating performance assessment in which students design and implement a project that addresses a challenge or strengthens an asset in a community of their choice. The SCP represents the authentic measure of what it means to be an artist-scholar at HUM IV and serves as the capstone to four years of artistic and academic development.
