During Black History Month, NY1’s Rocco Vertucci interviewed United Charter High Schools’ CEO Dr. Curtis Palmore and Development Manager Dr. Sanya Hudson about UCHS’s first-ever HBCU Tour.
This April, 50 students will visit seven Historically Black Colleges and Universities and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C., following six weeks of intentional, culturally immersive workshops focused on HBCU history, financial literacy, mental health, and preparing for life away from home.
As Dr. Palmore shared, his experience at an HBCU, @morgan-state-university, shaped his belief that students must see themselves—and feel a sense of belonging—on college campuses.
