United Charter Advanced Math and Science (AMS) High Schools are redefining education by providing outstanding, tuition-free opportunities that foster leadership, innovation and critical thinking for students in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens. With four campuses (AMS I, II, III, and IV) dedicated to a rigorous STEAM-focused education, our 9th-12th grade students prepare for dynamic careers in engineering, medicine, technology, environmental science, and more.
A Rigorous STEAM Education
UCHS AMS schools place a strong focus on mathematics and science, offering Advanced Placement (AP) courses like AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Biology, and AP Computer Science. These rigorous classes prepare students for post-secondary readiness. The curriculum integrates hands-on learning experiences that address real-world challenges, sparking creativity and critical thinking. Our teachers, ranked as top public school teachers in NYC, are dedicated to igniting innovation, guiding students through experiential learning that connects theory to practice.
Personalized Support for Success
To ensure every student thrives, AMS schools provide robust support services, including small group instruction and access to learning specialists. Personalized support from caring teachers helps students excel in a demanding academic environment. Additionally, AMS schools offer opportunities for internships and college credit courses, giving students a head start on their careers.
As part of our commitment to post-secondary readiness, AMS recently hosted over 50 colleges and employers at our College & Career Fair. More than 450 students explored post-secondary pathways and engaged with representatives from Syracuse University, St. John’s University, Mercy University, CUNY, SUNY, the MTA, NewYork-Presbyterian, the FBI, and other institutions.
Preparing for the Future
By connecting students to our greater community, whether as ambassadors of our schools or through partnerships with local organizations, UCHS students build leadership skills that prepare them for the future. In a recent podcast conversation with Claubentz Dieujuste, principal of AMS IV, on Conversations on the Block with host Patricia (“Pat”) Robinson on 94.7 FM, two AMS IV students shared their knowledge and experience at AMS schools, showcasing their exceptional communication skills and preparation to enter the world post-high school.
